Blogging for Profit - Starting with a plan

Many people dream of blogging for profit, and this goal is not beyond the reach of a person with average intelligence, a willingness to work hard, and a basic understanding of the technology of blogging.

However, few people manage to reap the profits they want from their blog. Most people who try to make money with blogs fail for two reasons.

1. Often, bloggers do not have realistic expectations of how fast their readership will grow and how much money you make. When these expectations are not met, the disappointment can crush the desire to continue blogging.

2. Lack of planning. If you want to turn a profit as a blogger, the key to success is to make a realistic plan and stick with it.

To succeed at blogging for profit, the main thing you need is a large audience. The more traffic, more readers you will capture the attention and the more money you make.

However, cultivating repeat visitors, which will be necessary to make a profit, is not all that easy. As more and more blogs appear each day, with a great idea or a wonderful writing style is no longer enough to attract attention. You must be able to market your blog effectively, and drive massive amounts of traffic to your blog.

Most bloggers spend too much of their time writing posts and no time marketing their blog. To be certain, updating as often as possible is a great way to keep your blog at the top of blogrolls and high in blog search engines like technorati, and once your readers know that updates frequently return to your site on a regular basis.

However, no matter how often you update if nobody is reading the page, so do not skimp on the time you spend driving visitors to your site. Try decreasing the number of posts and using some of that time to draw new visitors by setting up link exchanges with other bloggers, contacts in the community blog, and following other established modes of winning traffic.

Of course, even if you are a marketing genius or have a really great idea for a blog, success does not happen overnight. Build the kind of readers that blogging for profit requires takes time, and probably will be at least several months before being able to turn much of a profit.

Try to stay committed to your blogging project during this initial period of maximum. To stay motivated, set goals for how often you update and how many players you want to attract, and then reward yourself for sticking with your plan .......
