Quality Leadership
The Lakota tribe of Native Americans has no word in the language of "I" or "me", only "we" or "us". Mahatma Gandhi insisted on traveling in third class carriages (the train) because, as he explained, 'there is no fourth class.' "
Certainly personal desires are not a primary consideration for leaders. Quality leadership requires focus on the vision, the project, the operational need ... not on any personal need (except perhaps the need for staff to excel as a leader!).
This observation is closely related to the need to exploit the ego. The personal satisfaction will be achieved when the objective is met through quality leadership. The success on the financial, social needs, employee satisfaction and even spiritual levels automatically follow that leadership.
Some years ago I recommended a business manager who was given a check through criticism and unjust to insist subordinates. I was able to cradle him away from myopic profit that he could see the size and profitability to be gained by compassion, complement, and appreciation for, by and with the employees. He was in denial of its rigidity.
When I dealt with the ultimate test of my thesis, I replied that each employee was unreliable, incompetent, unqualified, or ungrateful. A rather surprising example of egos and dysfunctional management.
Leadership means providing service ... This concept of service is more a metaphysical account of operational thinking. It 's true, of course, that the service ends up being of some practical value and implementation. But that's not the point of service. We are here by the grace of God, and we experience the joys of life, to be, to learn, to share with loved ones, to make the world a better place than we found it and enjoy earthly pleasures. We are the beneficiaries of new technologies ... all these joys and surprises are to ask.
They are gifts, and in return we are obligated to serve. Thus, this continual process of giving and receiving, the world is a better place for everyone, not least of which is the way to carve out our progeny. Thus, "service" applies in particular to the "top", where he became the model ... when the leader is, so also the other. It will snowball into a euphoric aura productive, even in the secular workplace .......
