Big events not to miss in 2010

Not that they need any excuse to visit Istanbul, but this year the Turkish city is more attractive than ever. It is European Capital of Culture 2010, although it is not capital, nor European, nor does it lack. The program includes exotic dances, folklore festivals and one of the highlights, the exhibition on the treasures of the Kremlin which can be seen in the Topkapi Palace from February to August. Bring a group to enjoy this explosion of culture, love them.

A transparent cement Pavilion in Shanghai

From May, all eyes will go to Shanghai, which hosts an Expo that has the theme Better City, Better Life. Over 200 countries will participate in the meeting, which will show the world the latest advances in science, technology and architecture. Obviously we must bear in mind that the hotels have risen sharply the rates for those weeks and even then, it is almost impossible to find central accommodation for groups, but still worth a try, because the program is so broad that will satisfy all audiences .

Among the highlights of the Expo pavilions of China, a huge red inverted pyramid, although most will like is the Japanese children, which will be received by robots that will guide them along the way.

The Italian is made with 6,000 transparent cement panels, while Spain is presented in a striking wicker-fronted pavilion designed by Benedetta Tagliabue, which have special importance as the food and filmmakers Isabel Coixet and Bigas Luna. Canada offers a program designed by Cirque du Soleil, while in Finland you can enjoy all kinds of saunas.

South Africa, the navel of the world

From 11 June to 4 July, the navel of the world is South Africa, host of the World Cup. Besides sporting emotions and events that are organized in parallel (we'll explain everything in the magazine 28), the country offers other attractions such as natural parks or wine of international renown. If you are thinking of organizing an event there and you can afford it, consider boarding your customers on a luxury train to travel the country, on board which we can make tasting courses.

Latin America is this year's celebration, as many of their countries commemorate the 200th anniversary of its independence with all kinds of acts. Mexico's Cultural Capital of the region and Medellin will take place this March, the South American Games. A good time to discover this destination still far from being exploited by our industry.

A cultural destination in converted industrial

If you prefer closer destinations, Normandy is also an excellent plan for this year because there will be held this summer the first Impressionist festival, which will host all kinds of events related to this movement in painting. Poland celebrates Chopin year with dozens of shows around the country and in Germany, the Ruhr, also cultural capital, will demonstrate how one of the hardest hit areas of the continent by industrial restructuring can take advantage of its potential turning the old factories in art galleries and theaters. A good example of how any target can maximize their resources, if used creativity.
