He must be stopped
The meeting was so secret that many did not know their names. They knew what they were called the other, of course, because everyone he knew his own name. The call was adamant: "Maximum Emergency. At eight o'clock B-4. Once read, destroy this role?. There were twenty people with impeccable suits. Milan shirts. Gold Rolex. With an uncanny resemblance, as if they had a remote common ancestor. A tall man with a grin liver, rose at one end. 'Good afternoon, gentlemen,' he said, with negligible English accent. I am the representative of Lloyd's. Sorry I can not offer them tea and cakes, but is that tea time is over. The other nineteen representatives of major insurance companies in the world rebulleron restless. The tall man continued: 'Everyone is on the verge of bankruptcy. The losses increase and the actuarial tables used to shit. Amazed at his own vehemence lexical, English was about to apologize. But he restrained himself. The severity of the situation excused his slip of the tongue. And we know what is due, he said, banging his fist on the table. The losses increase because there is an individual who is jinxed.
There is a type-emphasized, which brings disgrace upon it touches, one Jose Gutierrez, who is more dangerous than the seven plagues of Egypt. He sat with a hesitation not studied. Had they really been seven plagues of Egypt? Would not it have messed up? He promised himself that he would ensure well, ironically, before making another appointment in the future. The ensuing silence was broken by a fat, ruddy: - Poor Gutierrez! It must be jinxed be a can ... - Poor, you say? Delicious! Poor us, we did not win to cover the policies. He, meanwhile, has become more professional and collects ten percent of insurance for each incident that causes.
The tall man opened his briefcase and handed out copies of the dossier of Jose Gutierrez. For he learned that Gutierrez, Joseph, son of Casimir and Eladia, received unemployment insurance, was responsible for 214 casualties in less than half a year. - A disaster and a half per day! -Whistled with admiration a Frenchman after becoming entangled in the r. Everything was explained in the dossier. Gutierrez spent the night in a five star hotel and that night a fire destroyed the twelve floors of the building. Another day changed billion pesetas on a bench and a half hour after the robbers were carrying 30 million. That same day he walked through the port and a wave tore the lighthouse. Again sent a postcard to a cousin of Cercedilla and an earthquake over a thousand cercedillenses. When the meeting finished reading the long dossier, it had become night. Again the tall man led them out of his reverie: - Well? 'It would have to do something, a guy with a monocle acknowledged. I can no longer support my dear. A wave of understanding swept the faces of the audience. The mistresses were getting very expensive. 'The only solution, he said softly a gray-faced man is to kill it.
For if others had not fully grasped the depth of his idea, the more clearly explained: - must be killed! Jose Gutierrez Kill! Three days after the secret meeting, the newspapers published the following news: "Jose Gutierrez, a construction worker unemployed, was saved from death by a miracle. A truck that broke the brakes was about to trample. Understandably, the truck, instead of hitting him, he rammed into the insurance company La Dolorosa, crumbling two-story building. It is regrettable seven deaths, numerous injuries and losses that are estimated at 200 million?. The next day, when Jose Gutierrez took a beer in a bar, a bullet grazed his cheek slammed into the chest of the financial Ordonez, whose life was insured for 300 million. There was a deeply felt mourning and Interior Minister promised to wipe out terrorism. Two days later, the plane that had taken passage Jose Gutierrez crashed in the Azores. Fortunately, Jose Gutierrez missed the flight because the driver had a flat tire way to the airport. Balance: 124 dead and nearly two billion in compensation.
That same week-breaking insurance companies. To no surprise, then, that within a few hours, committed suicide two executives from leading insurance companies. With a high sense of timing, Journal of Notices editorialized: "A case of bad luck?. He was dealt a new secret telegram: "Maximum Emergency. At five o'clock, C-6. This time there will be tea. Shred the paper as usual?. Even the claim of tea served to achieve a quorum. The Lloyd's man was alone this time. When British and lost his composure with the tea to cool, was about to swear, he realized that his 19 colleagues could not go because they had all committed suicide. Aged and sad, Jose Gutierrez thought before killing himself in turn. - You won, motherfucker! He muttered But you will never return Gibraltar. And a shot broke the silence of section C-6, leaving the room with a smell of gunpowder. The bullet, after jumping from English brains, smashed into the water pipe, causing a flood. The Lloyd's lost 180 million more. (This story was published in the journal On Thursday, in Barcelona on April 25, 1979.
